How to use the animal calculator
- Set your feed cost per animal per day - 0 if you graze them on forage, or what feed actually costs you.
- Fix any â?â cells: feather and hair prices arenât on the wiki yet; type the in-game value.
- Compare payback and daily profit across animals before spending coins at the Ranch.
- Choose your window: 28 days = one season; longer windows reward slow-but-rich animals.
What this calculator does differently
- Payback time, not just revenue - a 500-coin chicken and a 2,800-coin peacock are hard to compare head-to-head until you see days-to-break-even.
- Every product counted: ducks and geese lay eggs and drop feathers; most tools count only one.
- Honest gaps: unpublished wiki prices are editable inputs, never invented numbers.
- Feed economics built in, including the free-grazing option the game allows.
How this calculator works
Data. Animal prices, buildings and feed types come from the wikiâs Livestock page; product prices and per-day rates from each productâs item page (an egg, milk jar or feather per day when fed), verified 2026-10-07.
Formula. Revenue/day = sum of (products per day Ă sell price). Profit/day = revenue - feed cost. Payback = buy price Ă· profit/day. Window profit = profit/day Ă days - 0 (the buy price is counted in payback, not subtracted from product income, so the number stays comparable with the crop calculator).
Limitations. (1) Basic-quality prices only as defaults - fondness and Breed skill raise both quality and price, so treat results as a floor. (2) Product rate is 1/day per product per wiki text; if a game update changes rates, the cells wonât know. (3) Animal sale value when grown isnât modelled. (4) Building upgrade costs (Barn/Poultry House levels) arenât included - check the building cost before committing to luxury pens.
Frequently asked questions
Which animal pays for itself fastest in Harvest Town?
With basic-quality products at published wiki prices, the Chicken breaks even in about 25 days (500 coins Ă· 20 coins/day). Remember animals keep producing long after payback - and rising fondness raises product quality and price.
How often do animals produce goods?
Properly fed chickens, ducks, cows and goats produce once per day according to their item pages on the wiki (ducks also drop a feather daily). The calculator assumes one unit of each product per day; adjust the price cells if your breed skill or fondness changes the output.
Do I have to buy feed?
No. Animals eat one Poultry Feed or Livestock Feed per day, but they can also eat forage that you plant near them (forage seeds cost 3 coins at the Grocery). Enter your real feed cost in the calculator to see net profit - feed made in the Bait Workshop is cheapest.
Does fondness change product prices?
Yes. Petting animals daily and gifting Love Dough raises fondness, which improves product quality (and therefore price) and the animalâs own selling price. The calculator starts at basic quality - treat its numbers as the floor, not the ceiling.
Why are feather prices missing?
The wiki's pages for Duck Feather, Goose Feather, Peacock Feather and Alpaca Hair don't publish sell prices yet (they're marked incomplete). Type what you see in-game into the price cells and the math updates instantly - and if you tell us the values, we'll bake them in for everyone.
Can animals be sold for profit?
Yes - the wiki notes grown animals sell for more than their purchase price, so breeding (especially Piggies, which propagate fast) is a legitimate strategy. This calculator focuses on daily product income; treat sale value as a bonus when you retire an animal.
